EMPact America supports two bills that are currently before Congress: H.Res. 762 and H.R. 668. Please join us and show your support by filling out both of the message sections below (one in green, the other in a rusty color).
H.Res. 762: Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives regarding community-based civil defense and power generation. - This resolution encourages communities to provide 20% of the electric power needed locally, which is clearly necessary given the current exposed risks of the national electric grid to such threats as cyber attack, severe solar storms, nuclear EMP attack, and more.
H.R. 668: Secure High-voltage Infrastructure for Electricity from Lethal Damage (SHIELD Act) - EMPact America fully endorses the SHIELD Act (HR 668). The SHIELD Act was introduced by Congressman Trent Franks, with broad co-sponsorship, to protect our country against natural and manmade EMP threats and vulnerabilities. It has already gained broad bi-partisan support, but it needs to be a top priority for every member of Congress (House and Senate).
It is important to send messages to Congress using every tool we have.
While phone calls, letters and emails are still important, Congressional staffers are often too busy to tally the number of electronic correspondence they receive from citizens concerned about certain legislation. Many members of Congress use sources like govtrack.us to track the trending of constituent opinion on legislation, so online opinions on such sites can make a difference. Use this messaging tool to join other constituents in their support of H.Res. 762 and the SHIELD Act (H.R. 668).
